Optimus - how it works
Optimus Lifestyle

Freshwater & Marine

The word, "Optimus" in Latin translates to "the best".

NT Labs Optimus detoxifies ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, & heavy metals. It is also a concentrated aquarium water dechlorinator & conditioner.

  • Optimus detoxifies ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate into a safe form that can be removed by the biofilter. Always test your aquarium water using NT Labs Test Kits.
  • Optimus is a highly concentrated dechlorinator and conditioner that makes tap water safe for fish. Optimus removes chlorine, chloramine, halogens, and detoxifies heavy metals found in tap water.
  • Optimus should be used when setting up a new aquarium and during every water change.
  • Optimus should be used alongside Satus when starting up or ‘cycling’ a new aquarium to control ammonia and nitrite levels, thereby preventing ‘new tank syndrome’. Optimus is buffered and will not negatively affect pH or skimmers.

How to use:

  • Shake bottle thoroughly before use.
  • When adding to a new aquarium, calculate aquarium volume litres (length x width x depth (in cm)/1000).
  • See label for full dose rate
  • Dose for the full aquarium volume and add directly to the aquarium.
  • During a water change, add the appropriate dose directly to the new water before adding to the aquarium.
  • A half dose should be used when water temperature is +30°C and chlorine and ammonia levels are low. The normal dose can be doubled for water containing exceptionally high chloramine. Optimus can be used up to 5 times normal dosage to detoxify nitrite in an emergency.
  • Sulphur odour is normal.

They’re great additions to the already impressive NT Labs line-up and deserve a place in the arsenal of every aquarist.” - PFK

*Always follow the instructions on the label. This calculator is intended to be used only as a guide to how much product you need to buy to treat your system. It does not account for displacement caused by gravel, rocks, ornaments, or any other objects in the tank, and does not include the volume of any external filtration system. The result assumes the aquarium/pond is filled to the brim. NT Laboratories Ltd. will not accept any responsibility for inaccuracies or misuse of this guide.
