Over the past year, we completed a major redesign of our Aquarium Lab Multi, Pond Lab Multi and Marine Lab Multi test kits. The project focused on reducing packaging waste, improving ease of use and increasing manufacturing efficiency, while maintaining the accuracy and reliability customers expect from our test kits.
The result was a range of meaningful improvements that reduced material usage, simplified testing procedures and helped us meet growing customer demand.
What Changed?
Smaller, More Efficient Packaging
We reduced the overall box size, cutting down cardboard usage and making shipping more efficient.
Simplified Ammonia Test
The ammonia test was improved from three reagents to two, making it easier to use while also improving manufacturing efficiency.
New Fully Enclosed Box
The outer sleeve was replaced with a fully enclosed box. This removed the need to shrink-wrap the inner tray, helping to speed up production and reduce plastic waste.
Smaller Test Tubes
We reduced the test tube size from 10 ml to 5 ml, cutting plastic usage while maintaining full testing performance.
Integrated Test Tube Stickers
Sticker sheets were removed and labels were integrated directly into the reagent bottles, allowing customers to peel and apply the sticker straight to the test tube.
Packaging Reductions
One of the biggest achievements of the project was a significant reduction in packaging materials. By redesigning the box structure and internal components, we achieved:

- 48% reduction in card weight
- 24% reduction in plastic weight
- 25% reduction in total finished product weight
- 33% reduction in finished product size
Marine Kit
- 44% reduction in card weight
- 26% reduction in plastic weight
- 27% reduction in total finished product weight
- 33% reduction in finished product size
